Diversity in life is an outward expression of our cultural, societal, and political influences. In the end we are all people, interacting and operating in a global society full of languages, cultures, religions, and lifestyles. We consciously and unconsciously influence and inspire each other daily as we live to develop ourselves to our full potential. Understanding and navigating our cultural impact in the world is the foundation of excelling as global leaders in our world today.
Developing globally minded business leaders and educators provides the foundation to open to the diversity of global ideas and thought through interactive engagement in a culturally relevant and mutually beneficial way. Exploring our own unique identity, positionality, and beliefs creates the necessary awareness to better serve and promote intercultural understanding and global leadership skills.
My personal and professional aspirations are aligned with a global focus to connect diverse cultures, break down ideological walls, build bridges and develop global leaders in our diverse society today. My passion is connecting communities and cultures around the globe through people-to-people engagement, education and travel. The opportunities that I have had studying and living abroad, experiencing different cultures, religions, languages, foods, and values have all made a tremendous impact on my life, and provided the backdrop for me to form and cultivate many friendships with people from around the globe of culturally diverse backgrounds.
I offer several decades of experience working in the private and education sector among executives, government leaders, global ministries, medical communities, university students and educators around the globe. Within each of the communities, I work to develop a greater cultural awareness and deeper understanding of different lifestyles and how to effectively work together. I have extensive experience working with populations from the US, Middle East, Cuba, and SE Asia. I see time and again that the process of self and critical reflection leads to a mindset shift in intercultural understanding. Through these experiences and intercultural skill development, overall communication blossoms between those offering a different cultural perspective.
I graduated with a degree and foundation in International Business and Eastern Philosophy, with a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language. I am an entrepreneur having experiences as a university professor, teacher, project director, and consultant; creating opportunities to connect cultures, break down stereotypes, and empower women, youth, and families around the globe.
I am a PhD Candidate in Education, specializing in Interdisciplinary Studies and the role of intercultural competence in the business and education sector. Intercultural competence is a framework that addresses issues related to globalization, specifically focused on developing a greater awareness, enhanced personal attitudes, and perspectives which can lead to positive behavioral changes in our global society today. My work focuses on exploring and creating opportunities to develop these skills through direct people-to-people engagement. Specifically, my current research explores the role of intercultural competence as a tool to connect diverse societies and cultures within the context of Pakistan.
