My interest in Pakistan was sparked through collaborative engagement with educators from Pakistan participating in an exchange program here in the US along with my work in the UAE through Sea to See Travel.
These relationships were the catalyst the birth of PATEN.
Founder and Director of the Pakistani American Teachers of English Network; a collaborative network of dedicated English language teachers, organizations, and associations in the US and Pakistan. We are committed to the development of intercultural competence through professional development, collaboration, resource sharing, and networking. Our vision is to connect teachers across borders to help promote global citizenship for our students.
I am a strong believer in female education and in this regard, I donated laptop computers to the girls in this rural school. As a result the girls now have access to a global network of resources and information to connect with the world.
I strongly believe in supporting plantation efforts to increase awareness of emergent education opportunities and the importance of caring for the environment. To date, I have planted 444 to provide outdoor educational and recreational areas for students and families to enjoy.
Connecting cultures means valuing various cultural and religious traditions. I believe in supporting the Muslim community during the Holy season of Ramadan through providing Iftar meals to impoverished communities throughout Pakistan. In this way, we create bonds of understanding and friendship.
